DOMINIQUE MAHARAJ
Dominique Maharaj is an American singer-songwriter and performer who brings her risky musical proposal to Colombia, contributing with her voice strongly influenced by the style of American country, a unique touch to the electronic sub-genre that is taking over nightclubs around the world: Guaracha.
Dominique was born in Mexico City, grew up in Texas and spent her teenage years in South Florida. Close to music and art from a young age, she trained in piano, acting, ballet and folklore in her youth. In 2015 Dominique arrived in Colombia and dedicated herself fully to composition, participating in the creation of multiple songs of the urban and popular genres, working with renowned figures such as DJ Gangsta. In 2021, Dominique and Gangsta released their first EP where the songs “Don’t Call Me” and “Dandarin” stood out.
Her bet is to conquer Colombia while popularizing the genre internationally, giving touches of Tribal House to her compositions. Dominique wants to be recognized as the first Guaracha singer instead of a DJ. Dominique claims, “I want to be that singer that people listen to and think “Oh, it’s Dominique’s song”, instead of thinking of a DJ.”
